The 15th National Conference on Geometric Design and Computing (GDC 2023) sponsored by the Chinese Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (CSIAM) was held in Shanghai from 18th to 20th, August. The geometric calculation team of DUT attended this conference. Professor Luo Zhongxuan, the vice president of DUT, and Professor Lei Na from the International School of Information Science and Engineering delivered keynote speeches and their team-authored paper won the Best Paper Award at the conference. “The Singularity Structure Simplification for Hex Mesh via Integer Linear Program” co-authored by Ph.D student Duan Junyi, Associate Professor Zheng Xiaopeng, Professor Lei Na and Professor Luo Zhongxuan, was selected as one of the top 10 oral reports at the conference. Duan did the oral presentation and won the Best Paper Award. The paper Volumetric Parameterization via Foliation co-authored by Associate Professor Zheng Xiaopeng, Professor Lei Na and Professor Luo Zhongxuan was presented in poster at this conference. It discussed the application of volumetric parameterization in structured volume mesh generation and attracted extensive attention from participants. The paper titled A Metrics-based Polycube Construction Method for Hexahedral Mesh Generation collaborated by Ph.D student Zhang Ping, Associate Professor Zheng Xiaopeng, Professor Lei Na and Professor Luo Zhongxuan presented innovative research results in hexahedral mesh generation at the poster session.
