On March 19, the 13th “Challenge Cup” Chinese College Students Entrepreneurship Competition came to an end in Beijing. After several rounds of selection, the project “Majoring Essence in Medical Science: Precise Positioning and Navigation System for Personalized Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction Surgery” successfully advanced to the national level of the competition, and finally won the National Bronze Award.
The team of Liu Hui, Li Pengxi and Ge Qi from DUT-RU ISE, and Wu Xiaomeng from the School of Economics and Management has been actively preparing and planning since the beginning of last year and received careful guidance from Prof. Liu Bin of DUT-RU ISE and Prof. Yang Liang of the Second Hospital of Dalian Medical University. The team made an outstanding performance in the project presentation, Q&A session, and expert review. The team focuses on people’s life and health and computer-assisted treatment methods for human knee ligament reconstruction surgery, which has not only effectively solved doctors’ blurry sight, inaccurate targeting, and imprecise operation, but also improved the quality of patients’ postoperative recovery.
Since the establishment of the project in 2020, the team has visited and investigated the existing navigation hardware equipment for knee prosthesis replacement surgery on the market many times, and went into the operating room for a thorough study and investigation. A unique set of intraoperative navigation scheme was summed up from scratch, and finally won the bronze award of this competition. Behind it are the countless efforts and sweat of the Communist Youth League Committee of the university and the school, the innovation center of the Development Zone Campus, the mentors and team members.
